Sant’Angelo square is the heart of the historic and baroque centre of Licata, where there are fine.
architecture of the ‘600-‘700. The square was designed to expand the medieval center that was closed inside the defensive walls and that until then was in Marina district.
It is the square of Sant’Angelo sanctuary and it is often used to host music shows and various cultural events.
Much of the square is occupied by the church and the convent of Sant’Angelo but there are other palaces and ancient religious complexes, in which there are museums and some schools of the city.
Bosio Palace built, thanks to Giovanni Bosio, Knight of Order of Malta, on a pre-existing medieval building, tradition says that was Berengario’s house, Sant’Angelo killer. The palace is in Sicilian baroque style, rich of motifs and ornamental sculptures, in the thirties of last century to the original prospectus has been added the liberty decorations.
The main and secondary portals completely decorated are very interesting as well as balcony in which is enclosed the family coat of arms (a bull and a key) in an omega shape.
