Sea Museum, housed inside the sixteenth-century cloister Sant’Angelo boasts a collection of anchors and amphorae of different historical periods recovered in the sea of Licata. The sight of these finds, for their particular discovery, will leave every visitor pleasantly amazed.
In the various exposed supports it is possible to notice the evolution of the anchor, from the prehistoric one to gravity to the modern forms; these last found to the port and connected to the ships for the trade of the sulfur.
Another section is dedicated to the wine amphoras, testifying to the vast production of wine in our territory with the existence of several palmenti and the trade connected to it.
Inside a display case, among several interesting finds, there is a precious gem in vitreous paste (II – I sec. a. C) that reproduces a thinking human figure recovered from the sorbona sieve.
This museum is constantly enriched by new finds that have been lying for centuries at the bottom of the sea of Licata.
