Tourist Harbor and Lighthouse

Details

Tourist harbour, Marina di Cala del Sole, is the new modern tourist port of Licata, on the Sicily south coast. Located in the middle of Mediterranean, is the ideal base for who want to make route to the islands of Malta, Gozo, Pantelleria, Lampedusa, Linosa, Egadi, or to Spain, Greece, Turkey and North Africa.
With 394 berths for boats up to 70 meters, in a safe basin and with excellent services, Marina di Cala del Sole is an integrated system between sea, water-front and surrounding territory, it is rich of green areas, pedestrian and cycling areas, elegant commercial and entertainment areas, a residential village… Everything a few meters from the historic center!

SAN GIACOMO LIGHTHOUSE is one of the symbols of Licata and with its 40 meters is one of the highest of Italy and Europe, because it is located at sea level.
It was built at the end of the 19th century on the remains of San Giacomo castle, from which it takes its name.
The lighthouse, in addition to being a reference point for navigation, is a signal for those who travel the highway 115 (Agrigento or Gela direction), indicating to people their closeness to the city.
The lighthouse is also a tourist attraction. In recent times it has been opened to the public, with a remarkable presence of visitors.
Visits still continue, but there are no indicated periods for its opening, as a military structure, it needs the relevant permits.
During summer season, takes place the “Lanterna Fest” around it, an expo and festival of beer and street food.
