Ss. Salvatore Church
Near Sant’Angelo square there is the artistic facade of SS. Salvatore church of the XVIII century. In this church there is the confraternity of the same name. At its side stands the bell tower resting on a high plinth concluded by a characteristic bulb spire.
The church preserves inside several paintings of local painters belonging to Spina family depicting episodes of Jesus and apostles life.
The canvas depicting “The Madonna of the Chain with Gaetano and Barbara saints” and the statues of the same saints bear witness to their patronage towards the confraternity, invoked for the abundance of the harvest and against natural disasters. Particularly expressive is a wooden crucifix of the nineteenth century from the sinuous forms and a Christ placed to the column attributable to an artist of the ‘700 that recalls the suffering of passion.
On the high altar is placed the statue of Christ the Redeemer of the early twentieth century. In dialect called “u Signuri ccu munnu ‘nmanu” (The Lord with world in his hand) which is carried in procession by the confraternity on Easter Sunday.
