The church of San Domenico was dedicated to Sant’Antonio Abate and was run by confraternity of SS. Trinità, at the beginning of the seventeenth century, the church was sold to the Dominican Fathers, so it was dedicated to San Domenico.
The church is presented with an elegant façade made in 1754 and with a wide staircase that allows the entrance.
The church, with a nave, is adorned on the walls by several canvases of unknown Sicilian painter of the XVIII century, representing Saints belonging to the Dominican Order. There are two valuable canvases of Filippo Paladini, belonging to the beginning of the seventeenth century depicting “Saint Antonio Abate and history of his life”, which recalls the original title of the church, and the altarpiece of the high altar “The Trinity and Saints”. To the left of the presbytery is the canvas depicting “The massacre of the innocent” of unknown Sicilian painter of the XVIII century, who was inspired by the famous work of the same name of the Flemish Rubens.
Of the convent of the Dominican Fathers remains only a large courtyard and the portal of the entrance, on which there is the coat of arms of the Order.
