Details

The church of Pompei, located under the Sant’Angelo Castle, was built at the beginning of the fifteenth century on the southern slopes of Mount Sant’Angelo and was originally dedicated to Santa Maria del Soccorso, also called of “Collura”.
The church was of Dominican Fathers and later passed to Augustinian Fathers. Years later, this church was abandoned and in 1897 was rebuilt dedicated to Our Lady of Pompei, inside, on the main altar, there is the statuary group.
The building is located in a characteristic viewpoint from which you can admire a splendid panorama with views of city and sea.
The church is illuminated on the outside, giving a special effect to this ancient area of Licata.
