La Rocca
The beach “La Rocca” is one of the most beautiful beach of Licata; it takes the name of the rocky islet that emerges from the sea a few tens of meters from the shore and it is located in the district of Pisciotto. The waters are blue and green, very clear! suitable for those who want to swim long. The golden sandy beach is about two kilometers long, bordered by impressive dunes until you reach the adjacent beach of Pisciotto. The seabed gently descends into the open sea to reach the island of Rocca, an almost indispensable stop for boats passing through. For lovers of scuba diving there is a crystal clear water full of marine life.
Lovely landscape, a place rich in history, in the past has played the role of mooring point for the naval fleets engaged in the long journey to the Mediterranean. And right in these waters happened one of the greatest naval battles fought in the antiquity: Romans and Carthaginians face each other here in 256 B.C. during the First Punic War. In fact, in these waters have been found several historical finds of boats, exhibited at the museum of the Licata.
The beach is well equipped with all kinds of services, and although it is very busy there are also areas a little more isolated. Parking is on payment and can be reached from San Michele provincial road.
